About the service

We offer appointments with a librarian or curator if you need help finding resources in our collections or conducting research:

  • up to one hour
  • one-on-one
  • on the phone or in person at the Library.

What we can help with

You can request an appointment if you need:

  • guidance on what resources related to your research are available in our collection
  • help with research strategies and methodologies for your specific research.

We cannot assist with:

You can request an appointment if you:

  • have a library login
  • do not have a library login, but intend to use our unique collections.

If you are a student, we will usually refer you to your educational institution.

You can also:

  • call us
  • visit us in our reading rooms.

What happens next

After you request an appointment, a librarian or curator will contact you to:

  • confirm your requirements
  • set up an appointment date and time
  • confirm if the appointment will be on the telephone or in-person at the Library.

The librarian or curator will then spend:

  • up to one hour preparing
  • up to one hour with you in the appointment.
