Stack stories: Retired rare books curators reflect
Behind the scenes, at libraries across Australia and New Zealand, are dedicated curators who research, develop and promote the collections of which they have custody. This panel brings together 4 eminent, retired rare books curators, who together have well over a century’s experience working with rare book collections. The focus of this discussion will be the stories that rare books can tell. Panellists will reflect on their experiences, share memories of books and collectors they met during their careers, and reveal their thoughts on the future of rare books. Don’t miss this opportunity – a must for book lovers.
This is a free, public event. If you are interested in attending other BSANZ Conference sessions (options starting at $10), please visit the BSANZ website.
This session will be introduced by the National Library of Australia’s Rare Books and Music Curator Dr. Susannah Helman. The panel will be facilitated by BSANZ President Simon Farley.
The event is held in partnership with the annual Conference of the Bibliographical Society of Australia and New Zealand, which is being held at the National Library of Australia 4-5 December. For more information about the conference and to register, please visit the BSANZ website.
