School holiday activity: 'Fit to Photoprint' workshop

Participants explored the Fit to Print exhibition and experienced producing a cyanotype sun print.

To coincide with our exhibition Fit to Print: Defining Moments from the Fairfax Photo Archive, we partnered with PhotoAccess ACT to present a special school holiday workshop.

Cyanotyping is a very early photo imaging process developed in the 1840s using UV light, and (harmless) chemical reaction patterns and shapes can be captured.

There was also an opportunity during the session to experiment with Polaroid photography.

This workshop was suitable for children aged 8 and over, but younger children could participate with parental supervision. All craft material was supplied.

There were two activity sessions available for bookings at 10am and 11am.

Two images side by side. On the left an image of two cyanotype sun prints being made by being dipped in a tub of liquid. On the right a finished cyanotype sun print, showing white leaves on a blue background.

This event was presented by PhotoAccess ACT and the National Library of Australia.
