Florence and the birth of the Italian Renaissance
We are familiar with the achievements of the Italian Renaissance, which continues to shape how we think about art and history. But what role did Florence play in this evolution? What did the city provide that enabled this birth and encouraged it to flourish? Or do we see Florence as its birthplace mainly because writers like Giorgio Vasari, the 16th century artist told the story so convincingly?
This event explores the way Florence’s history has been told that placed the city at the heart of the Italian Renaissance.
Light refreshments are available in the foyer after the presentation.
