Photography without a camera: Cyanotype printing workshop

PhotoAccess tutors Eunie and Claire led a hands-on cyanotype printing workshop inspired by the Fit to Print exhibition.

It was a relaxed, creative morning designed to spark curiosity and celebrate the beauty of printmaking. Participants learnt about the history of cyanotype, saw examples of contemporary cyanotypes, and watched a live demonstration of the process from mixing chemicals to exposing prints.

Using acetate negatives made from selected works in the Fit to Print: Defining Moments from the Fairfax Photo Archive exhibition, participants created their own Prussian-blue cyanotype prints. Printing could be done outdoors with natural materials or indoors using a UV printer.

All materials were supplied, and attendees took home their prints. Light morning tea was provided during the workshop.

This event was presented by the Friends of the National Library of Australia and PhotoAccess.
