Join Alison Alder as she reflects on her life and work.

Held in association with the National Foundation for Australian Women, Winter Tales events feature a notable woman speaking about her life and work and raise funds to support the Australian Women’s Register.

Afternoon tea is served after the presentation.

About the Australian Women's Register

The Australian Women’s Register is an initiative of the National Foundation for Australian Women. The Register builds knowledge and recognition of the contribution made by women through an online biographical register. Winter Tales events raise funds to support the register’s development.

About Alison Alder

Alison Alder is a visual artist whose work blurs the line between studio and social/political art practice. She has worked within community groups, research institutions and Indigenous organisations. Primarily known for her printmaking, Alison has recently extended her practice to include weaving.  

Her work has been exhibited in several key Australian exhibitions including, amongst others, Know My Name at the National Gallery of Australia, Making It New: Focus on Contemporary Australian Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Identity: 23 at the National Portrait Gallery. Her work is held in major Australian and international public and private collections.  

Alison was the Inaugural Artist in Residence at the Australian Parliament House in 2023/24 and is an Honorary Associate Professor at the Australian National University, School of Art and Design. She works full-time in her studio in regional New South Wales.
