The Hon Christopher Pyne appointed to the National Library of Australia Council

The National Library of Australia is pleased to welcome the Hon Christopher Pyne to its Council for a 3-year term.

Mr Pyne is a strategic advisor, public affairs consultant, author, broadcaster and former Federal Minister. First elected to Parliament in 1993, he served as the Member for Sturt for 26 years. During his time in Parliament, he held the portfolios of Ageing, Education, Industry Innovation and Science, Defence Industry, Defence and Leader of the House. 

It’s a pleasure to welcome Christopher to the National Library of Australia’s Council. His genuine affection for the institution and his considerable experience in federal government and the diverse portfolios he has represented will be a tremendous asset as we continue to steer the Library through ongoing change in industry and technology.

Mr Pyne serves on several boards including: Chair of the Council on the Ageing Australia, Chair of the South Australia Council of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce; Co-chair of the Australia-UAE Business Council; a member of the advisory boards of the NIOA Group and Orygen; and has recently retired as Chair of Vision 2020 Australia and the Board of High Com Ltd. 

We are delighted to welcome Christopher to the Council. His experience, insight and knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to shape the future of our institution and serve the Australian community.

Prior to his election to the Parliament, Mr Pyne practised as a solicitor at Corrs Chambers Westgarth and Thomson Geer. He is currently the Executive Chairman of government affairs firm, Pyne and Partners and an Industry Professor at Adelaide University.
