About the artwork

The artwork follows the story of a reader to a writer, who finally passes the torch of knowledge onto the next generation.

Taking inspiration from the wealth of books in our collection, the projection is created using a combination of stop-motion puppet animation, pop-up and tunnel books, all handmade with paper textures.

About the artists

Eleanor Evans and Giovanni Aguilar are animators based in Canberra. They create a variety of work but specialise in hand crafted stop motion animation and graphic design.

Giovanni is a Colombian graphic designer and Eleanor is an Australian visual artist. They met while studying a Master of Stop Motion Animation in Barcelona and when they graduated, they started to work towards building their own studio in Australia. Their projects include music videos for local and international artists, TV segments, social media content, packaging design and graphic design, and now of course, the Library’s Enlighten projection!
