Australian newspapers online
Trove
Trove's digitised Australian newspapers include numerous historical Australian newspapers published between 1803 to 1955.
It includes national and Australian state and territory newspapers, and supports browsing by title, date and location as well as keyword searches.
Articles and pages can be printed and downloaded, and citations are also provided.
The long-term objective of the Australian Newspaper Digitisation Program is to make as many Australian newspapers as possible published prior to 1955 freely available online through Trove.

National edeposit
One copy of everything that is published in Australia is to be given to the National Library under the legal deposit provisions of the Copyright Act 1968. Many current newspapers are deposited with us electronically through the National edeposit scheme.
Refer to How to search and find items for tips to search the catalogue and discover if the newspaper you need is available online. Limit search results by Access to view National edeposit titles.
Many edeposit newspapers are only available to read in the Library’s reading rooms. Check the catalogue record to see where you can read an edeposit newspaper.
Some edeposit newspapers may also be available to view at a State Library near you. Check with your State Library if the title you wish to read is available.
