Bring our collections online

Our priority projects
Bringing our rich and diverse collections online fulfils our vision to make the Library’s treasures freely available, transform access to Australian culture and history, create a trusted educational and inspirational resource, and build a global digital showcase for Australian culture.
We have curated a series of key collections from our physical holdings of more than ten million items across several themes. You can read more about each of them below and in our priority projects booklet. If you would like to discuss making a major gift or bequest for any of these projects, please contact us.
Creative Voices
We are proud to hold the collections of iconic Australian women writers such as Miles Franklin, Judith Wright, Helen Garner and Henry Handel Richardson, as well as other figures who deserve to be better known now.
Digitising these collections will make the voices of these women available to contemporary audiences, and to enrich the public’s understanding of women’s role in the history of Australian literature.

Voices of Equality
We hold extensive collections related to the history of Australian LGBTQ lives, cultures and communities, including from the very beginnings of activist movements in the 1960s to the marriage equality campaign of the 2010s and beyond.
These are essential stories of hidden lives, strident activism, periods of terrible loss and times for joyful celebration. Digitisation will help bring them to life on Trove.

Voices of Australian Life
Making our collections of historic metropolitan and regional newspapers available on Trove has connected the internet generation with resources for in-depth research of political, social and family history.
Digitisation can help bring even more of the rich history of Australian life online through Trove.
