National Folk Fellowship

The National Folk Fellowship was jointly offered by the National Library of Australia and the National Folk Festival between 2004 and 2024.

The Fellowship was open to established and emerging folk practitioners, including musicians, singers, dancers, poets, performance artists and collector/performers. This Fellowship offered recipients the opportunity to discover and explore original collected material in the Library’s folklore and related collections for use in their own artistic work, which included a performance at the National Folk Festival.

While this Fellowship is no longer offered by the Library, researchers and PhD students working in the field of folklore are eligible to apply for the National Library of Australia Fellowships or the National Library of Australia Scholarships programs, while creative artists are eligible to apply for the Creative Arts Fellowships.
